Woman from Gaza

About the contributor...

I whipped up this combination of Woman from Tokyo and Saint Saens' Samson and Delilah after Janell Duxbury forwarded the request for contributions to the DP tribute. I've never played a Deep Purple tune before, but I've long been a big fan of Steve Morse. I would have liked to have spent more time on this recording, but I was finishing my new CD, Strad to Strat. It's the music of Paganini, Bach and others transcribed to electric guitar with synth. orchestra.

About the song...

Woman from Tokyo was composed and recorded by the Mark II line up of Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord, and Paice in 1973, and is part of the album Who do We think We are! It has become a AOR radio classic in the USA.

Fly into the rising sun,
Faces, smiling everyone
Yeah, she is a whole new tradition
I feel it in my heart

My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
She's so good to me

Talk about her like a Queen
Dancing in a Eastern Dream
Yeah, she makes me feel like a river
That carries me away

My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
She's so good to me

But I'm at home and I just don't belong ...

So far away from the garden we love
She is what moves in the soul of a dove
Soon I shall see just how black was my night
When we're alone in Her City of light

Rising from the neon gloom
Shining like a crazy moon
Yeah, she turns me on like a fire
I get high

My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
She's so good to me
