The most striking thing about this album is the melacholic flute playing of Loren Pickford. It's somewhat a bit like the Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) style of playing but slower and more jazzy. It provides an interesting complement to his bluesy saxophone work and Lero Jones' trumpet and brings to mind images of the street in New Orleans after which this album was named for. The bass (Lucas Pickford and Bill Huntington), drums (Brian Blade) and percussion (Matt Perkins), and the piano (Mike Pellera) all contribute to this vision in a subtle manner. I really thought the title track was amazing, and some of the others were pretty good, but some sounded a bit like elevator music. Overall, this is great music to relax to.
