They've been called the masters of lo-fi, and it's easy to see why. Their stuff sounds like it was mastered straight out a 4-track. In fact, it sounds like a Fostex (crisp guitar) was used! The song (which is present two versions, one edited and one uncensored, versions of the title track, of the title track) reminds me of some of the more normal stuff that Ric Hickey does. There's nothing musically new, but the sound is fresh, raw, and straight-forward. The song is essentially pop, without being excessively overproduced. Goes to show a $100,000 advance isn't necessary to produce a cool single.
