Thunk is great syncopated hard core music which borders on the experimental, with a jazzy feel, at times ("thunk" may well be an abbreviation for "thrash funk"). The production is quite good, especially in terms of the guitar tone. The vocals could've been mixed better. The music is quite unique and I can't really even begin to pigeonhole it, but the band does have a vague similarity to another Bay Area band, Psychefunkapus. The band sounds like they'd be great in concert as well. This album is another testament to the DiY approach out there, and is already one of my nominations for one of the best DiY albums of 1998. I highly recommend this effort.
