Withstand is a hardcore band from Albany, NY and they possess the intensity of older Prong, with the hardcore/punk feel of Fugazi and the thrashiness of Corrosion of Conformity (CoC), particularly in the guitar work. It's no surprise then that the producer for this album turns out to be Steve McAllister (who has produced Prong and CoC). The music is what is brilliant and impressive about the album. The guitar riffs are novel and fresh, and the drums and bass complement it extremely well. Each song is packed with more than just a couple of riffs, and there's enough changing in the pacing and the aggression every so often that ensures one never gets bored listening to the music on this album. The vocals are typical hardcore vocals and I think this is where the band has the room for the greatest improvement. With a bit more melody in the vocals, there could be potential commercial success awaiting this band, ala Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer.
