Dawson's Creek: The Scare

I don't care very much for the TV show, but I did watch Dawson's Creek: The Scare, written by Kevin Williamson (who writes for the series) that mimicked Scream and Scream 2.

Williamson actually manages to do something better in this episode than he did in Scream and Scream2: provide a good dose of humour, tie it down to a more realistic setting (well, as realistic as it can get in a show like Dawson's Creek), even provide a few thrills, all with zero body count!

In this episode, which happens on a Friday the Thirteenth, a serial killer is stalking Dawson's Creek. Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek), a fan of the horror genre, arranges a seance to scare his friends. However, things don't turn out the way he expects them to.

Williamson shows that even though there is some value in paying homage to the horror greats, it's better to not be too clever and over do it. As stated by one of the characters in the episode: "I guess that's pretty stupid; trying to be original by copying somebody else."
